The best approach to dental emergencies is to prevent them with regular dental exams and x-rays.
Of course, it’s impossible to predict when things will go wrong. Dental emergencies happen on their own time with little regard for your schedule or plans. We are here to help!
At Dastrup Dental, we do our best to treat dental emergencies quickly in order to minimize discomfort and help you get back on track with your oral health. We reserve time in our schedule for dental emergencies so that we can take care of our patients when they need us most.
Are You Having a Dental Emergency?
Patients sometimes wait to call because they are not sure if their dental pain will subside on its own. Pain of any kind is an indication that a condition needs your immediate attention. Dental pain can worsen when left untreated and may put your oral health (and your tooth) at risk.
If you’re ever in doubt about whether you are experiencing a dental emergency, give us a call. Our team knows the right questions to ask and will find a time in our schedule to address your problem – often on the same day!
Common Dental Emergencies
Each dental emergency is different, and your symptoms may be unique to you. Some of the most common calls we receive from patients experiencing a dental emergency include:
- Broken or damaged teeth
- Lost or fractured restorations
- Tooth pain
- Accidents or trauma
- Pain or sensitivity in gum tissue
It is always best to call right away because it gives us an opportunity to plan for your appointment and make sure you get taken care of quickly. It also gives us the best chance to make sure your condition does not progress.
Your Dental Emergency Exam
When you arrive, our team will take an x-ray of the area for Dr. Dastrup to review as part of your emergency dental exam. The goal of an emergency exam is to address your current problem, relieve pain, and stabilize your dental health. That may mean a root canal, filling, restoration repair, a dental crown, or even an extraction.
In some cases, he will be able to complete treatment in one visit. Other times, Dr. Dastrup will provide palliative care and we will schedule a time to follow-up with complete treatment.
Either way, you will feel much better by the time you leave because we will have a treatment solution that works for you.
